Lifetime Achievement Award

Donna Cooley, Mat-Su School District, Alaska

Donna has taken on leadership roles in technology integration at the school, district, and state level. Currently she is MatSu's Professional Development leader in the area of technology Integration through her Intel Teach to the Future courses. Donna has taught nearly 150 MatSu teachers with this student centered, project based, standards driven, curriculum.

When Donna is not teaching in the District Training Center, she is in classrooms working with teachers to integrate technology. Her time is valuable and highly sought after by teachers and administrators looking for guidance and advice.

Donn's heartfelt belief in the power of technology to improve student achievement is what drives her. Her humble and unassuming personality is what endears her to her colleagues. Donna has impacted hundreds of educators from Juneau to the Kuskokwim during her career.


Technology Leader

Cheryl Bobo, Technology Coordinator, Craig City School District, Alaska

Cheryl has proven herself an outstanding educational technology leader in Alaska and beyond.

The following are just a few of her enduring accomplishments:

Cheryl has accomplished all of this and more with her usual diligence, selflessness, tenacity, sense of humor, and southern charm. She is truly deserving of this award.


Technology Teacher

Diane Crockett, Distance Education Facilitator, Bering Strait School District

Ginger Crockett is a teacher who is constantly innovating new ways to incorporate web applications into her lessons. She uses blogs, wikis, and numerous other web. She works with other teachers at numerous sites to maintain a web community of learners for different projects.

Ginger is leading a collaborative project teaching students about responsibility and safety online, specifically on social networks. Through Ginger's leadership and innovation, this project is bringing together multiple classrooms to learn, discuss, and explore this topic.

Her students are collaborating and receiving feedback in ways that would not otherwise be possible. For Ginger, her student's capacity to learn and be involved is the ultimate goal, and she is able to accomplish this through her innovative use of many different web applications.


Technology Support

Annie Baker, Network Services Technician, Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Alaska

Annie Baker works for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District's Network Services Department. She is is always the "calm in the eye of the storm" and is a lady who looks at every problem as fixable. Annie takes great pride in a job well done, treats everyone around her with respect, and because of this no one is ever afraid to ask her a question.

We have raised the level of this award by giving it to Annie Baker because of her outstanding work ethic and can-do attitude.


Technology Student K-8

Mia Concilus, 8th grader at Unalakleet, Bering Straits School District

Mia is a digital kid 2.0! Mia is envolved in a number of activities. Her resume reads like a well experienced media specialist, but she is only in the 8th grade.

Mia has an understanding of basic web server management and maintenance, loves to do YouTube and similar video work in iMovie, acts as Ed Tech assistant at UNK school helping teachers with various programs. Mia is fluent in Final Cut Pro, Moodle management, mail servers, Word Press, Joomla, Mediawiki, other wikis, iPhoto, and various other multimedia technologies.


Technology Student 9-12

Alex Himshoot, 9th grader, Dillingham High School

Alex is a member of the Dillingham Middle/High School student tech support team. Alex provides technical and instructional support to staff members, fellow students, and the technology specialist.

Alex has taken the initiative to pursue a several Apple support and repair certifications.

Alex is an excellent student and is experienced in trouble-shooting networks, configuring computers, and recently began logging and repairing computers for Dillingham School District. Alex is currently working towards an A+ certification and a Mac OS X Server certification.
