2010 General Conference Information
February 20-23, 2010
The annual Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE) 2010's conference will be celebrating 30 years of educational technology and vision. This year’s conference theme is, The Digital Life. We live in a digital world. We have access to greater amounts of information, more people and new ideas with increased options for learning, communicating and working. Our conference, scheduled for February 20 – 23, 2010 at The Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, Alaska, will explore the many facets of the digital life including:
- The use of digital media software as learning tools
- Key skills students learn by working with digital media
- How are digital tools transforming the experience of learning?
- How does technology influence brain development?
- Challenges to using digital media in schools
- Internet Safety
- Copyright
- Cyber Community Life
- Learning communities that connect instantly across time zones and oceans
- Management of digital resources
- Acceptable and responsible use of digital resources
- Web 2.0 Learning Environments
- How do digital-media projects change how we teach?
- Finding effective ways in which to engage and challenge digital learners
- Bridging the gap between how students live and how they learn
- iDida Contest participation
The ASTE Conference is the largest of its type for K-20 educators, administrators, and technology coordinators in Alaska. It is the purpose and mission of ASTE to promote access to technology, connectivity to information resources and technology integration for all Alaskan learners. ASTE invites you to help us celebrate our 30th year of educational technology and vision. As we explore The Digital Life, this year's conference will:
- Emphasize classroom practices that combine technology with educational standards
- Provide educators state-wide a myriad of opportunities, including hands-on workshops, excellent keynote and featured speakers, exhibits and more
We invite you to present at ASTE 2010 as we endeavor to meet the needs of digital learners by offering a pre-conference workshop or a conference sectional. Share what you have learned including the use of Web 2.0 classroom environments, favorite units of study, online assessments, classroom management strategies, and/or favorite software used to help students and staffs utilize educational technology resources as learning tools. Come share, learn, network and collaborate!
- Preconference: Saturday, February 20 & Sunday, February 21
- Opening Session: Sunday, February 21 about 5:00 PM
- Conference: Monday, February 22 & Tuesday, February 23
Registration Fees
- Full Conference (Monday AND Tuesday) = $210.00
- One Day Conference (Monday OR Tuesday) = $135.00
- Pre-Conference - Full Day (Saturday OR Sunday) = $110.00
- Pre-Conference - Half Day (Saturday OR Sunday) = $60.00
Late Registration Fees (Begin on Tuesday, Feb 16, 2010)
- Full Conference (Monday AND Tuesday) = $260.00
- One Day Conference (Monday OR Tuesday) = $160.00
- Pre-Conference - Full Day (Saturday OR Sunday) = $160.00
- Pre-Conference - Half Day (Saturday OR Sunday) = $85.00

ASTE Online Registration Confirmation
Online registration will be available through the RegOnline system via our website (typically on or about January 15th). Visit www.aste.org and follow the links for ASTE 2010 online registration once they are posted on the home page.
Acknowledgment of your registration will be emailed to the address you provide on the online registration form. If you do not receive your confirmation shortly after submitting your registration, please send an email to registration@aste.org.
Onsite Registration
Onsite registration will be available at The Hotel Captain Cook beginning Friday, February 19, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The ASTE 2010 Registration Desk may be found in the "Coat Closet" across from the Fore Deck of the Discovery Ballroom.
Exhibitor Information
Exhibitor sign-up is available through the RegOnline Registration (EXHIBITORS ONLY) System (http://www.regonline.com/ASTE2010Exhibit).
Booths are approximately 8' x 10' with fabric walls ("Pipe and Drape"). These booths will consist of an 8' back wall and two 36-inch high side dividers. The booth includes one 6' skirted table, one 500 Watt electrical outlet, and two chairs. The Exhibit Hall is carpeted. Your company name will be displayed on and Exhibitor ID Sign (approx. 7" x 44").

College Credit
Registration forms for University of Alaska graduate non-graded credit will be available near the conference registration desk. To receive credit, you must sign-up for the course at the conference and complete all requirements.

Cancellation Policy
Refund requests must be emailed to registration@aste.org. Be sure to write "ASTE REFUND REQUEST" in the subject line. Refund requests will be subject to a $25 administrative fee, and those received after February 15, 2010, regardless of time sent, cannot be honored.
Please be certain of your registration choices as a $25 change fee will apply to each registration change made by the administrator after your initial choices. You may follow the link in your registration confirmation email to make changes on your own any time before February 16, 2010 without charge.
