Past President

Steve Noonkesser currently serves as ASTE's Past President. He has in the past served as Western Representative and as President-Elect. He has been an educator for the past nineteen years and is a lifelong Alaskan. Steve has been a member of AACED and ASTE since 1989. During his twelve years with Southwest Region School District , where he currently serves as Technology Coordinator, he has successfully co-authored multiple Technology Literacy Challenge Fund (TLCF), a School Renovation grant and Enhancing Education Through Technology (E2T2) grants.

Steve is a hands-on member of the team implementing the instructional and support technology programs for the district. He manages the district's computer and distance learning networks, implements the district's technology plan, provides technology training workshops to staff, and creates a variety of technology-based solutions to enhance the teaching and learning environment of Southwest Region Schools. Believing that educational technology plays a vital role in reducing isolation and improving instruction in Alaskan schools, Steve is active in a number of statewide organizations. He currently serves as the president of the Alaska Distance Learning Partnership, an organization dedicated to improving the quality and access to distance learning opportunities across the state, and is a member of the State of Alaska Educational Planning Task Force, which recently wrote the new Educational Technology Plan for the State of Alaska. Previously, Steve worked as a teacher, site technology facilitator for the Lower Kuskokwim and Bering Strait School Districts. He has taught classes on technology integration for the Bristol Bay campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. enjoys working with all of the individuals from across the state who have helped to bring technology into the schools to improve the teaching and learning environment for all of Alaska's students.

Steve believes that ASTE has a critical role to play as a unifying force within the state that encourages the successful implementation of technology within Alaska's schools.
