Carla has been a classroom teacher since 1987. For most of her 21 years she has taught at Kenny Lakes School (Copper River School District) teaching primary multiage classes. Carla has a B.S. in Environmental Education, Reading Endorsement, and a Masters of Education in Technology Integration. Her love and interest of integrating technology into the classroom began as an ARCTIC (Alaska Reform in the Classroom Through Technology Integration) participant in 2001-02. She loves integrating technology into her classroom in all subject areas. Her latest projects involve using digital storytelling in her literacy program. She has taught several training sessions in the Copper River School District including web page development, PLATO, software applications, and how to use technology with primary students. It is her hope that her classroom becomes an environment in which technology is a transparent tool which we use to better understand ourselves and the world around us. As a representative on the ASTE board, she looks forward to promoting technology integration into classrooms across the state.
