Hello, fellow ASTE members! Since the new academic year is beginning soon for all of us, we wanted to take some time today to apprise you about our Distance Learning survey project. In our sessions last year, we were very impressed by the great work in Distance Learning taking place across the state. There are so many members using websites, conferencing, and other online tools to provide effective instruction for Alaskan kids. However, many members would like to learn more about others who are also teaching similar grades and content areas, so they can share ideas, resources, and perhaps even coordinate projects together. Currently, there is no statewide ASTE Distance Learning directory, and it’s our goal to make one.
We’d like to present you all with an overview of Distance Learning activities in Alaska. To that aim, we are sending a beginning survey to ASTE members to learn what grades and subjects teachers are instructing via Distance Learning. We’ll use this basic survey to conduct follow-up questionnaires for teachers who are interested in working with others. Then we’ll construct a visual map and directory of grades, subjects and activities so that our members can find colleagues and coordinate with them.
We’ll send our first survey to ASTE members in early September. You can have an advanced preview of it here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1EELqCLSn7meeNPUl27lT1CK6GBkXR0nEIwAOccd5oJU/viewform
We are very interested in your ideas and feedback to help our project. If you have suggestions, please comment below.
We look forward to your feedback, and we’ll keep you informed of our progress as we move forward in this process.
