Learn more about ASTE’s Advocacy efforts, and make a positive difference teaching and learning in Alaska! We reach out to Alaska’s elected officials to support our goals.
Advocacy is storytelling. ASTE believes in helping students, educators and schools tell their stories and strategies for improving learning through technology. Our iDidaContest enables students and educators to tell their stories. Advocate for your students and school today and tell your story.
ASTE maintains active advocacy with federal delegates through our relationship with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Connect the ISTE Advocacy Network and utilize the ISTE Advocacy Toolkit to learn how YOU can share your vision of education technology.
Visit the ASTE/ISTE Advocacy booth at the ASTE Conference to send direct messages to our delegation because your voice makes a difference!
You can keep in touch with state legislators by using the Directory of Alaskan Legislators distributed at the ASTE Conference and by following the status of bills through the Bill Action Status Inquiry System (BASIS) or connect to the Alaska Education Update blog detailing the status of legislation pertaining to education.
ASTE recognizes that advocacy for thoughtful integration of technology occurs at the School Board and school administration levels. We have a partnership with Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) and their Consortium for Digital Learning (CDL) project. We work with ASCA and AASB/CDL to support local efforts to increase access to technology, professional development, and resources.
You can follow the progress and news at AASB’s Consortium for Digital Learning.
