Red’ Boucher is recognized, at the state and national level, as one of the pioneers of the Information Age and a recognized authority on the subject of computer-mediated communication. He realized that computers were a tool to help connect Alaskans to each other. Red was one of the first elected Lieutenant Governors of Alaska, and a telecommunications whiz. He was truly a pioneer in helping to establish internet access in remote Alaska villages. He had a long and distinguished career of public service, including holding the offices of Lt. Governor and State Representative.
Managed by the Alaska Community Foundation on behalf of the Alaska Society for Technology in Education, the Red Boucher Scholarship supports outstanding Alaskan students pursuing technology-related post-secondary education or training. The fund provides an annual award of $1000, increasing as it grows. See Scholarship Fund Annual Review Form attached.
