
Catherine Walker is a National Board Certified Science Teacher and is the Alaska Awardee for the 2015 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. She is a National Geographic certified teacher and recently earned her Commercial Drone Pilot’s license from the FAA.
Catherine teaches Oceanography/Marine Bio, Unmanned Aviation Science, and PLTW Engineering Essentials at Dimond High. Previously she taught Biology and 9th grade science. She has also taught 7th and 8th grade Integrated Science and Applied Technology at Romig Middle School.
Catherine earned her B.S. in Biology from Brandeis University in Boston, MA, and her M.A.T. from UAA. She completed the Semester of Environmental Science Program at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, interned at the New England Aquarium, and also volunteered as an EMT-B on campus. After college, she served as a Natural Resource Management Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Mali from 2002 through 2004.
